Malachi is an adorable orange tiger cat, as you can see by his photos. He has a bladder problem, so when I take care of him I express his bladder and change his diaper. He is perfectly happy in his home and has fun with his 10 other cat friends!
Malachi's person writes:
"Malachi came to live with me as a 2 month old kitten with a leaky bladder. As he grew we found out that his bladder couldn't "communicate" with his brain. Because of this his bladder muscles did not develope and cannot hold urine in nor push it out. He wears a diaper as he will always leak urine. Additionally, he does not know when his bladder is full, and because he takes in more liquid than he drips out, he must be "expressed," that is, it is necessary to squeeze his bladder several times a day to force all the urine out. If he wasn't expressed regularly the urine would linger and give him chronic bladder infections. This is further complicated by a congenital kidney deformity. One of his kidney's was so disfigured (and infected) that it had to be removed when he was about 5 months old. The other is damaged and he suffers from chronic renal failure - because of the renal failure he drinks an excessive amount of fluid, but at times even this is not enough and he needs supplemental subcutaneous fluids administered.
He travels with me at times, but this is not always possible. I don't want to cause him extreme stress by boarding him at the veterinarian's office (a place he is terrified of) but it is not possible to leave him home alone or with a friend. Lori's business works out perfectly - he stays in his familiar environment while getting the special attention that he needs. "
